It's natural to feel overwhelmed when trying to choose something new and good to watch in the world of streaming - so if you're in need of some guidance, you've come to the right place.

Based on Rick Riordan's hit YA fantasy adventure series about Greek mythology, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just arrived on Disney Plus. The drama follows 12-year-old Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), who finds out that that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and begins training to become a hero at Camp Half Blood, a special training camp for demi-gods.

Meanwhile, the second season of Prime Video's Reacher is here and once again follows the titular action hero, but this time is based on the 11th book in Lee Child's series, Bad Luck and Trouble. The new series opens with Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receiving a coded message that the members of his former military unit are being mysteriously and brutally killed one by one...

For the movie fans among you, a few weeks after it received a brief theatrical run, Bradley Cooper’s second film as director, Maestro, has now arrived on Netflix. Cooper takes on the lead role of Leonard Bernstein, one of the most significant musicians of the 20th century whose work includes both musical theatre scores such as West Side Story, and numerous classical compositions. Although the movie focuses mainly on the true story of Bernstein's relationship with TV actress Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan), there is still plenty of attention given to his career in music – both as a conductor and composer.

Christmas is a time for films, and there's plenty to keep you going over the festive season - you could also try Chicken Run sequel Dawn of the Nugget; action adventure Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny; acclaimed drama May December, starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman; and Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind, based on the novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam.

There's plenty of other streaming options, and so to give you a bit of a hand, RadioTimes.com has collated some of the best new offerings: from Netflix and Disney Plus to Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and Apple TV+, here are the latest highlights across the services.

Whether it’s a true-crime documentary series like Get Gotti, an adventure reality contest like 007: Road to a Million, or a hot-blooded French crime drama such as Blood Coast, there's something here to suit everyone's taste.

Take a look at the list below, which includes all the details about where you can watch any title – and what we think...

    Summary:

    Bradley Cooper directs and stars in a biographical drama, which charts the relationship between celebrated conductor Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre and a close friendship with clarinettist David Oppenheim. Also starring Carey Mulligan and Matt Bomer

    Our verdict::

    Bradley Cooper directs and stars in this heartfelt and elegantly made biopic of the American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. The film spans his career, beginning in 1943 when he conducts the New York Philharmonic, aged just 25. Yet this is not simply "Bernstein's Greatest Hits"; Cooper and co-writer Josh Singer barely even mention West Side Story, for example. Rather, it's a searing portrait of his marriage to Chilean actress Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan, giving a towering performance), which implodes owing to his attraction to men.

    Switching from monochrome in the 1940s to colour in the later years, Cooper's film shows immense fidelity to both the period and Bernstein's joyous appreciation of music.

    Summary:

    Author Rick Riordan kickstarted his hugely popular Percy Jackson & The Olympians adventures based on Greek mythology in 2005 with The Lightning Thief. Rich source material is reimagined as an eight-part fantasy by Riordan and co-creator Jonathan E Steinberg, laying the groundwork for a multi-year expansion covering the entire literary catalogue. Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) is blissfully unaware that he is the product of a romance between his mortal mother Sally (Virginia Kull) and the god of the sea, Poseidon (Toby Stephens). Exposed as a demi-god, Percy attends Camp Half-Blood under the direction of Dionysus (Jason Mantzoukas) with his best friend Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri), who is actually a satyr. Together, they face erroneous accusations that Percy has stolen a thunderbolt belonging to Zeus (Lance Reddick). Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), a daughter of Athena, joins the quest and the three youngsters face terrifying adversaries including the gorgon Medusa (Jessica Parker Kennedy)

    Our verdict::

    Move over, The Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time — there’s a new epic fantasy quest to get lost in, and it’s full of cheeky, youthful energy. Co-written by Rick Riordan, author of the hit novel series in which Greek gods and legends persist in the present day, the new show casts Walker Scobell as Perseus “Percy” Jackson, an apparently ordinary American kid with dyslexia and ADHD who is in fact a demi-god, and who has been accused by Zeus of stealing his “master bolt”.

    As a trek across the country looms, a snappy sense of humour underpins the lush special effects and the story’s coming-of-age subtext about struggling to find one’s place in the world.

    Summary:

    Romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. Pop star Kat Valdez is preparing to marry her fiancé live on stage when she discovers that he has been unfaithful. Devastated by the revelation, Kat picks out divorced dad Charlie from the audience and pledges to marry him instead. But are their lives too different to result in a happily ever after?

    Our verdict::

    Can a megastar marry an average member of the general public? That daydream sits at the heart of this glitzy romcom. Jennifer Lopez is at her most diva-like as a pop star who plumps for Owen Wilson’s single-parent teacher as a replacement beau for her cheating boyfriend (Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma). Soon enough, the genial everyman is thrown into a dizzy world of endorsements and 24/7 reality TV.

    The film plays out like a less charming Notting Hill, but the original songs by Lopez and Maluma bring some cheer to an otherwise tame affair.

The family withholds the results from Nai Nai, and plan a relatives' gathering before she dies. Writer/director Lulu Wang's comedy drama, starring Awkwafina, Tzi Ma and Diana Lin. In English and Mandarin Chinese, with English subtitles

    Our verdict::

    When an elderly Chinese woman is diagnosed with terminal cancer, her family opts not to tell her, taking on the emotional burden themselves and secretly celebrating her life behind the guise of a family wedding. However, their decision sits uneasily with her granddaughter Billi (Awkwafina, above with Zhao Shu-Zhen as her grandmother), a New Yorker who’s one of the many relatives flying in for the occasion.

    Despite having its plot rooted in sadness and mortality, this is an upbeat and life-affirming movie filled with laughs.

    Our verdict::

    More than 20 years after Chicken Run became a claymation classic, Ginger, Rocky and co return in this joyous sequel. Having escaped from Mrs Tweedy’s farm, the flock now lives in a utopian island base. When Ginger (voiced by Thandiwe Newton) and Rocky (Zachary Levi) discover that their daughter Molly (Bella Ramsey) has set off on her own adventure, old enemies rear their heads and only an expertly orchestrated heist can avert a calamity.

Accompanied by his goddaughter, he soon finds himself squaring off against Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA. Action adventure, starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas and Mads Mikkelsen

    Our verdict::

    Harrison Ford cracks his whip one last time as the intrepid archaeologist in this likeable fifth and final outing. In 1969, an ageing Indiana Jones now lives alone in New York, his adventuring days behind him, until his god-daughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) crashes into his life seeking the Antikythera, better known as the Archimedes Dial. Also on the hunt for this artefact, believed to pinpoint fissures in time, is scientist Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a former Nazi who has helped the US win the Space Race.

    With the story globe-trotting from Manhattan to Morocco and Greece, director James Mangold (taking over from Steven Spielberg) does a good job in realising the look and feel of an Indy movie. Although the helter-skelter plot is driven by one too many chases, it’s a good-natured ride with neat throwbacks to the originals.

    Our verdict::

    Good as Tom Cruise was in the movies of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher stories, Alan Ritchson is surely the definitive screen version of the hulking former military policeman. Season one saw Reacher working to bring down a murderous conspiracy. In the new episodes, his old army buddies are being picked off by an unknown stalker, which means even more bone-splitting action.

Superhero sequel, starring Zachary Levi and Helen Mirren

    The first Shazam! (2019) was a surprise screwball entry in the DC movie universe, and this action-packed sequel is just as good. Having become Shazam (Zachary Levi), teen orphan Billy Batson (Asher Angel) recruits the other kids in his foster home as superheroes. Jim Broadbent puts his best foot forward in this gentle British drama about a retiree who sets out on a 500-mile hike to see an old colleague who is in a hospice dying of cancer. Why doesn’t he take the train? Because he believes his pilgrimage will keep her alive while she waits for him to arrive.

    Twenty years after their notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, a married couple buckles under pressure when an actress arrives to do research for a film about their past. Director Todd Haynes' drama, starring Natalie Portman, Chris Tenzis and Julianne Moore

    Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore face off in this wickedly funny melodrama from director Todd Haynes (Carol). Moore plays Gracie, who has served jail time for having had a relationship with a teenager. Years later, her story is to be made into a movie, and actor Elizabeth (Portman) arrives at Gracie’s home to study her ahead of the role.

History repeats and Hayley and her loved ones are deposited into the lap of luxury while James and his brood, including family groundskeeper Jack (David Bradley), sample the 'rustic charms' of a barn with an outhouse and resident goat managed by gruff farmer Rudolf (Karl Markovics).

    Our verdict::

    Charming 2022 comedy Your Christmas or Mine? introduced us to young couple Hayley (Cora Kirk) and James (Asa Butterfield), who each spent Christmas with the other’s family after a series of misunderstandings. This sequel sees their two families jetting off for a festive break on the pistes in Innsbruck. Unsurprisingly, fresh confusion occurs, not least over who gets the posh hotel and who stays in the rickety old barn guarded by a goat.

    However, despite the cast’s energetic performances, there is little evidence of the first film’s wit, and any laughs are pretty feeble at best. The plot bulges with even more clichés than the original, although the Austrian locations do at least offer up a smattering of real snow.

    Young hearts run free and occasionally miss a beat in a coming-of-age drama adapted by Melanie Halsall from Ali Novak's young adult novel, which pivots around a love triangle with similarities to The Summer I Turned Pretty. Fifteen-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) loses her family in an accident and is forced to move from Manhattan to rural Colorado to live in the care of her mother's best friend, Dr Katherine Walter (Sarah Rafferty). The teenager intends to achieve grades that will get her into Princeton, even while she is surrounded by the chaos of her kind-hearted new guardian raising 10 children with her husband George (Marc Blucas). Among the throng are quiet and bookish Alex (Ashby Gentry) and brooding and mysterious Cole (Noah LaLonde). The two Walter boys vie for Jackie's affections and potential romance with her housemates threatens to derail the heroine's well-laid plans.

    Our verdict::

    A wholesome teen romance, based on the novel by Ali Novak and from the studio that made the Kissing Booth movies. Fifteen-year-old Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) moves from glitzy Manhattan to small-town Colorado when her parents die — her new guardian is her mother’s best friend, a mother of 10, so there is a lot to adjust to as Jackie quickly becomes the talk of the community. Then she meets two brothers, one gentle and bookish, the other intense and mysterious.

But then she meets Tom (Jon Pointing) at a karaoke bar. Eddie Murphy stars as a recently laid-off father desperately trying to win a lucrative Christmas decorating contest in this peculiar festive comedy from director Reginald Hudlin. What begins as a conventional family film quickly descends into chaos after Murphy makes a Faustian deal with rogue elf Pepper, which could see him added to her collection of captive talking ornaments, among them Nick Offerman sporting a dreadful English accent.
